Originally titled as ‘International Pacific Conference on Automotive Engineering (IPC)?#65533;, the first     I PC was held in November 1981 in Honolulu, Hawaii, involving SAE member societies from countries surrounding the Pacific. Following the success of the event, the FISITA Pacific member societies chose to organize this biennially. Reflecting a wider participation, the name was changed as Asia Pacific Automotive Engineering Conference (APAC).
